We are taking you to Southwest Serbia, to a landscape of extraordinary beauty, a place rich in culture-historical sites, and an area of magnificent flora and fauna.
Tour plan:
Depart at 7:00 a.m. in front of the hotel in Belgrade. Travel through Prokuplje and arrive in Kuršumlija, once the capital of the medieval Serbian state. Take a panoramic tour of the town, including visits to the Monastery of Saint Nicholas and the Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos — the oldest endowments of Stefan Nemanja, built between 1159 and 1166. The Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos is located near the confluence of the Kosanica and Toplica rivers.
After visiting the monasteries, we continue south and turn left at Rača toward Radan Mountain. At an elevation of 600 meters lies Đavolja Varoš (Devil’s Town), a unique natural monument declared a site of exceptional importance by the Serbian government.
These unusual rock formations, created over centuries by erosion, are unique in the world. They are divided into two sections on either side of a ridge. The right side is known as Paklena Jaruga (Hell’s Ravine), and the left as Đavolja Jaruga (Devil’s Ravine). We explore this natural and cultural landmark, enjoy the colors of Radan Mountain, and take a lunch break.
After visiting Đavolja Varoš, we return to the main road and, after a half-hour drive, arrive at Prolom Banja — a spa nestled on the slopes of the Radan and Sokolovica mountains, at an elevation between 550 and 650 meters. After a short break, we take a walk to Lazarica Church, the only wooden church in the Toplica District. According to oral tradition, Prince Lazar’s army received Holy Communion at this site on the eve of the Battle of Kosovo. A unique feature of the churchyard is six twisted plum trees, around which a special legend is told.
We conclude our day at the spa center with a drink and some refreshments. Free time until departure. In the evening, we return to Belgrade. End of the itinerary.
