Discover the city of Nis and surroundings. Experience an adventure in a magnificent gorge of river Jelasnica that is recognised as a Special Nature Reserve and highly protected. The gorge of Jelasnicka river represents a unique biodiversity and is one of the most prominent gorges in the Balkans – due to breathtaking landscape, geomorphologic characteristics, natural values, a well preserved ecosystem, and exclusive flora and fauna.
Tour plan:
Departure from the hotel at 9:00 a.m. Accompanied by an experienced local guide, we head east towards Niška Banja. After a 30-minute drive, we arrive at the Jelašnica Gorge – a stunning natural formation, 2 km long and only 30 meters wide – located at the foothills of Suva Planina Mountain.
We begin our adventure in the central area, where there is a picnic spot and a cave from which prehistoric artifacts have been excavated. This unique round tour takes us through the magnificent Jelašnica Gorge, offering an up-close exploratin of impressive rock formations and striking geomorphological features. From some of the best viewpoints you’ll have a spectacular view of the Suva planina mountain ridges and the village Jelašnica at the gorge’s end. To make this adventure even more exciting, everyone will have the chance to try abseiling – a controlled descent down a rock face using a rope – on the gorge’s steep cliffs. Sounds exciting? Come along and give it a try! Finally, we go to the village to enjoy the local cuisine.
The goal of this program is to: visit well-known landmarks that are gradually being forgotten; reconnect with nature and spend time outdoors, create an adventure by blending a small tourist activity with an exotic destination.
After completing ourr planned activities, we return to Niš the same way we came, arriving around 7:00 p.m.

Sneakers or climbing shoes, a few pairs of socks, T-shirts, a hooded waterproof jacket, a sweatshirt, spare pants, sunglasses, a cap, and sunscreen. It’s also a good idea to bring energy bars, snacks, refreshing drinks, and plenty of water. Pack everything in a small backpack.
A 50% advance payment of the total arrangement price is required at the time of booking. The remaining amount must be paid no later than 20 days before the start of the trip (with the option of installment payments). This program is based on a minimum of 2 registered participants. In case of changes in the monetary market (or the market of goods and services) or an insufficient number of registered participants, the tour organizer reserves the right to adjust prices, modify the program, or cancel the trip no later than 5 days before the scheduled departure.
According to the Serbian Law on Tourism (Article 79), for one-day excursions (trips shorter than 24 hours), protection is not provided in terms of travel guarantee.
The organizer of the trip is travel agency Nature Travel Office, licence number OTP 38/2025 issued by the Business Register Agency as of May 06, 2025. Nature Travel Office is insured by an insurance policy against responsibility for travel agencies in case of insolvency and liability in case of damage to the traveller, number 30000049351, by the insurer MILENIJUM OSIGURANJE ADO Belgrade. The policy is valid from April 01, 2025 to April 01, 2026. In this program, travel agency Nature Travel Office applies their general terms and conditions of traveling, which are included in signing up for the trip.
