We’re taking you on a one-day adventure to Kalafat, a hilly-mountainous region in southeastern Serbia, a place rich in nature, culture, and historical landmarks. Kalafat is known for its numerous hiking and recreational trails, as well as speleological sites, making it an ideal destination for adventure tourism. The most famous is the Cerje Cave, while Samar and Popšička caves are not far behind in terms of attractiveness.

Tour plan:

Departure from the “Čair” sports hall in Niš (by the ticket office) at 08:00 a.m. Transfer to the village of Popšica, located 40 minutes from the city, on the slopes of Kalafat, a hilly-mountainous region. A 1.5-hour hiking tour from the village center through a scenic landscape leads us to the cave of the same name. A two-hour exploration of one of the first caves to be studied in Serbia, dating back to as early as 1889. Although the total length of all passages is only 620 meters, inside awaits a real labyrinth of tunnels, four bat colonies, and visible traces of cave bears near the main entrance. Due to its significance, the cave is protected by the state as a speleological natural monument, classified as Category III. After the cave visit, we return to the village via the same trail. Depending on the weather, there is an option to cool off in the Popšica pool, which has a thermal spring. Return to Niš in the late afternoon. End of the program.
