This fascinating country lies in the southern part of Europe and, with its incredible wilderness, is a true gem of the Balkan Peninsula. Despite its relatively small size, nature has been “relentlessly” generous, blessing it with an abundance of breathtaking landscapes. This makes it captivating for everyone, but especially for those who love the wild, turning it into a true tourist delight.

The Komovi Nature Park is named after one of the most impressive mountain massifs of Montenegro and the Dinaric Alps. With its towering peaks and vast plateaus, Komovi have always attracted lovers of untouched nature and mountaineering.

Thanks to favorable climatic and ecological conditions, the area boasts rich and diverse flora and fauna. Mountain meadows, dense pine and beech forests, and breathtaking landscapes make this region one of the most beautiful in the area. With an average altitude of 1,900 meters, Komovi rank among the highest mountains in Montenegro. Their highest peaks—Kučki Kom (2487 m), Ljevoriječki Kom (2469 m), and Vasojevički Kom (2460 m)—offer unforgettable views and challenges for adventurers.

Tour plan:

Departure from Niš in front of the hotel at 1:00 p.m. Travel through Serbia and Montenegro with occasional breaks for rest and border formalities. In the evening, arrival at Štavna, a stunning mountain plateau offering one of the most spectacular views of the Komovi Mountains. Accommodation in traditional katuns (mountain huts) at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level. After settling in, enjoy a delicious dinner before resting for the night.

After breakfast, we prepare for the ascent. The trail first passes below Vasojevićki Kom, leading through the glacial valley of Međukomlje before reaching Carine Pass (2,165 m). From here, the challenging final ascent to Kučki Kom (2,487 m) begins, featuring a steep couloir with some technical elements before reaching the summit ridge. This section requires caution and agility.

From the peak, we’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Ljevorečki, Srednji, and Vasojevićki Kom, as well as Bjelasica, Sinjajevina, and the Kučke Mountains. After a well-deserved break at the summit, we return along the same route to our accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we set out for the ascent of Vasojevićki Kom (2,461 m). The trail from the katun crosses scree slopes and is not technically demanding, except for a short, exposed section before the final climb, which spans a few hundred meters. The ascent to the summit takes about three hours. From the top, enjoy stunning views of the entire Komovi massif, Kučke Mountains, Planinica, Prokletije, Visitor, Bjelasica, and the Moračke Mountains. After a break at the summit, we descend via the same route back to our accommodation for lunch. Following lunch, we pack up and begin our journey back to Serbia. Arrival in Niš is expected in the late evening hours. End of program.
