Compared to the other regions of Serbia, its eastern area, dominated by the small part of the Carpathian Mountains, is less known and visited, although it has unprecedented and wild natural beauties.

A visitor with a bit of an adventurous spirit can enjoy the beauty of these areas in a special way.

The most famous natural attraction is certainly the greatest gorge in Europe, Đerdap, which “squeezed” the powerful water of the Danube River in only 150 m wide gorge at the place called Kazan. Due to its natural uniqueness, Đerdap is protected as a national park.

Tour plan:

Departure in front of the hotel in Niš at 7:00 a.m. Traveling by highway to Svilajnac and further into the very heart of Homolje Mountains to Ravništarka and Ceremošnja caves, which are located in the immediate vicinity. Guided tour through the caves, protected as natural assets in 2007. Lunch break in a restaurant next to Ceremošnja Cave, where you can try local dishes from the Homolje region. The journey continues to the Dubočka Cave. Setting up a camp. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Breakfast. The trip continues towards the Đerdap National Park. Tour of the Golubac Fortress, one of the most beautiful fortresses on the Danube River, located at the entrance to the Đerdap National Park. Driving along the Danube highway to Lepenski Vir, one of the most important prehistoric sites in the world. Lunch break at the Captain Misha’s Hill viewpoint. After lunch, departure for a hiking tour through the Đerdap National Park to one of the viewpoints with a magnificent view on the Danube, Small and Big Kazan. This tour lasts an average of three hours, is not strenuous and requires an easier level of physical fitness. Accommodation in a camp next to the Danube. Dinner. Overnight stay.
