Kipar odlikuje veoma povoljan geografski polo\u017eaj, le\u017ei u isto\u010dnom Mediteranu, na raskrsnici tri kontinenta: Evrope, Azije i Afrike. Ovo je najisto\u010dnije ostrvo u Sredozemnom moru, a sa povr\u0161inom od 9251 km<sup>2<\/sup>, tre\u0107e je po veli\u010dini nakon Sicilije i Sardinije. S obzirom da je Kipar tipi\u010dno mediteransko ostrvo, ima i tipi\u010dnu sredozemnu klimu, i sa oko 340 sun\u010danih dana godi\u0161nje, ovo je najosun\u010danija dr\u017eava u ovom delu sveta.<br \/>\nI dan danas se nalaze mnogi tragovi drevnih civilizacija \u2013 rimske, vizantijske i venecijanske. Glavne privredne aktivnosti ostrva su turizam, trgova\u010dka mornarica, izvoz ode\u0107e i farmaceutskih proizvoda. Republika Kipar je \u010dlanica Evropske unije.
