Macedonia – located between Šar and Rhodope Mountains, intersected by fertile valleys of the Black Drim River and valleys adorned with beautiful lakes – Prespa, Dojran and Ohrid, one of the oldest lakes on the planet.
Ohrid is a magnificent city in the beautiful south-western part of Macedonia and the leading summer tourist centre of the country. Ohrid is the soul of the Balkans and, certainly, the cradle of Slavic literacy. It is located on the shore of Ohrid Lake, about 170 km from Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. Thanks to its outstanding natural beauty, rich historical and cultural heritage, Ohrid has been part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage since 1979.
